Submitted for a design competition hosted by AC-CA, the Archipelago Bridge proposes an iconic pedestrian bridge across a canal in Amsterdam. The design heightened the contrast between two traditional bridge elements: the pier and the walkway. It breaks down the crossing by creating spaces for rest, framing various views of the shoreline with a gently kinked pathway, and anchoring each end with a bike shop and cafe housed within monolithic islands/piers.
