DIY Workbench

With all the projects I've done, you'd think my setup would be a little more...setup.

I have a workshop area in my apartment, but have to take all cutting, staining, or especially noisy operations outside, which is basically everything. What I use as my assembly table inside was just a sheet of plywood on two trestle legs from Ikea. In order to work outside, I would usually take 2 saw horses and set up a similar table with some scrap wood, but setup and take down of this gets tedious, so I decided to finally build a mobile rolling workstation.

I designed this workbench to be narrow enough to fit through the double doors so I could easily move my projects between inside and out. It's simple, solid, and wonderfully functional. The casters on the bottom lift up when not in use so that the table is securely planted. All my tools can fit on the lower shelf, which is set high enough that it won't hit the curb of the doorway. The top surface overhangs on all sides enough to mount a clamp or task light any where on the perimeter. Lastly, it took a whopping 5 hours to build (a new personal record for this kind of project).
